Our HISTORY

Over forty years ago, a group of Spirit-seeking people, in order to adhere to a Reformed Theology, the Scriptures, and Presbyterian government, founded Covenant Presbyterian Church in 1973.

That group has grown into who we are today: generations of people who are filled with the Spirit, looking to forward his kingdom to future generations.

Our Vision

"Reaching out with the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

The ultimate sacrifice Christ paid on the cross for our sins is the catalyst for our zeal to share His love, grow in faith, learn His Word, serve Him and others, give selflessly and support this journey with others in this thing called life.

The scope of that isn't limited to just those in attendance on Sundays. God has given us people and places from near and far in our lives. No matter where you're from, your walk, in life, family, faith or growth, we want to share His love and the benefits of His sacrifice together.

There are a few pathways to help guide us through accomplishing our vision:

  • WORSHIP
Giving glory, honor and praise to our Lord and seeking His Word through the gathering of worship by means of hearing, singing, speaking, praying, giving and communing together. Whether in person or online, we are worshipping together as one body of Christ.
  • COMMUNITY
As a community of believers, we want to intentionally gather in His presence and participate in various ways for us to grow, learn, fellowship, support, and pray together.
  • OUTREACH

Extending the knowledge and benefits of Christ... going out into all the world to declare His love, share His gift of salvation and make disciples in our local, national and international communities. Those areas and people needing support, care, spiritual growth and salvation are where we want to focus and make His presence known.

WE BELIEVE

OUR CORE BELIEFS:

We believe in one God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. To Him be all honor, glory and praise forever!

Jesus Christ, the Son and Living Word, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is true God became true man united in one person forever. He died on the cross as a sacrifice of atonement for our sins according to the Scriptures. On the third day he arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where, at the right hand of God the Father, He is our Savior and the breath in our lungs.

We believe that through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, our whole-hearted belief in Him,  taking Him as our Lord and Savior, and by His grace, we are saved and forgiven of our earthly sin. His love for us sparks us to have a personal relationship with Him in prayer, spirit and service. It gives us the capacity to love others and share this unconditional love with everyone.

THE CHURCH & FAITH:

Almost 500 years ago there was a famous protest against the church at Rome, known today as the Protestant Reformation. These "protesters," men such as Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, and John Calvin, were committed to the recovery of the historic apostolic faith. This is part of our history and we remain connected to this movement. Their convictions and confessions inform our faith and doctrine.

As part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), we adhere to:

The EPC (Evangelical Presbyterian Church) exists to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus as a denomination of Presbyterian, Evangelical and Missional congregations.

To the glory of God, the EPC family aspires to embody and proclaim Jesus' love as a global movement of congregations engaged together in God's mission through transformation, multiplication, and effective biblical leadership.

The local church is the primary building block in the EPC. We believe ministry and mission begins with the local church. As Presbyterians, our churches intentionally connect and engage together on a regional basis. We believe that we can better fulfill the mission of God by supporting, helping and being accountable to each other.
